CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

YIN & YANG

Experience equilibrium in a class that combines the Yin and Yang styles of yoga. During the first half of class, you will be guided through an active, faster-paced flow that develops flexibility, stamina, and strength. From there, the second half of class will slow things down, transitioning into a series of grounded, restorative postures that are held for longer and are especially good for joints and connective tissue. You will use props for support throughout the class.

SLOFLOW

Explore yoga’s fundamental postures in this gentle, steady, unrushed class experience. The sloflow style emphasizes proper alignment and focuses on low-impact movements. Postures are held for longer periods of time than they are in traditional vinyasa yoga, with the guidance from your teacher helping you focus on your breathing and stability. If you are new to yoga or simply looking for a softer approach, this class will feel just right for you.

VINYASA

This series of traditional postures will help you achieve strength and flexibility. Vinyasa links together deliberate breathing and fluid movements, allowing you to deepen your practice with unique and effective transitions.  Expect to challenge your physical and mental capabilities through a faster-paced flow and creative sequencing.

HATHA ALIGN FLOW

Hatha Align Flow uses focused alignment in the postures to bring about illumination of the mind through discriminative self-balancing.  Alignment is a kind of enlightenment. Proper alignment and the body mechanics that accompany it ensure correct, safe, and elegant movement.  By definition, yoga postures feel good and reflect an art form of symmetry and freedom.  Prop use, pose variations and modifications will be taught to help bring the floor up to greet each Student where they are at. The focus will be on creating a slow flow with a strong focus on body alignment to sweat, lengthen and strengthen.

RESTORATIVE

Work your way through a simple series of grounded postures held for between three and five minutes. In each posture, your body is fully supported by yoga props, which allows you to fully embrace the experience, enhancing relaxation and slowly opening connective tissue. Restorative yoga is a great way to repair over-tense muscles and calm the nervous system.

TAI CHI

Tai Chi (also known as Taiji) is the ancient Chinese practice of conscious flowing gentle movements which was originally created as a martial art but also has physical health and mindfulness benefits. Taiji has been described as “moving meditation” and incorporates balance, breathing and relaxation executed through a sequence of continuously connected movements called forms. It is recommended to stay consistent with this class as it requires practice to pertain the layers and fluidity.

SOUND HEALING MEDITATION

Lie back and experience the vibrations of crystal bowls and other instruments. This is a special event class that is offered weekly, with healer Mike McGuigan using a range of tools to immerse attendees in a comforting, healing ocean of soft sounds that promote relaxation. Please bring a pillow and blanket for personal comfort during the class.
